The Abbot-Primate’s Pastoral Visit to America — April 12-18, 2012

 

 

During the Octave of Easter, His Excellency, Abbot-Primate, Abbot General and Provost, Bernhard Backovsky, Can.Reg., made his first visit to the United States of America to survey the progress of the American foundation, still in its first year. Joining him was the Abbey’s Burser, the Very Reverend Dom Walter Simek, Can.Reg. and the Novice Master, the Very Reverend Dom Anton Höslinger, Frau Elfie Hofmeister, Executive Secretary to the Provost, and Dr. Peter Schubert, Director of Public Relations for the Abbey.   • Dom Elias was appointed the Headmaster for All Saints Regional Catholic School in Glen Cove, New York. The story was widely covered in local and regional newspapers including a cover story in Newsday. We are very we excited about this opportunity to strengthen Catholic education on the Gold Coast. We plan to introduce German and Latin to the curriculum come autumn.
  • Dom Gabriel, who will be ordained to the diaconate on June 29th, will start his pastoral assignment in Glen Cove on July 3rd. His studies in Rome are drawing to a conclusion.
  • On May 9, 2012 the Chapter approved three confreres for solemn vows, Dom Meinard, Dom Nicolaus and Dom Ignatius and one for simple vows, that is, Dom Leonhard.
